Date and Time

24th July 2019

Location

National Theatre

Join us for an evening of conversation inspired by Stuart Hall’s memoir Familiar Stranger, with Bill Schwarz (the book’s author and co-writer), Jay Bernard (writer, filmmaker, poet) and Anna Himali Howard (director and theatre-maker, currently staff director on Small Island at the National Theatre), chaired by Gilane Tawadros (Chair of the Stuart Hall Foundation and Chief Executive of DACS).
Timed to coincide with the National Theatre’s stage production of the award-winning novel Small Island by the acclaimed writer and founding trustee of the Stuart Hall Foundation Andrea Levy, the conversation invites new generations of cultural practitioners to connect with and respond to two classic works of fiction and non-fiction.
