We are delighted to announce that Orsod Malik, a curator, writer and digital strategist who has played a crucial role at the Stuart Hall Foundation for several years, has been appointed as our new Executive Director.

Orsod has stepped into the new role of Director during a transformative period for the Foundation that includes new developments in our programming activity, more details of which are to be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are delighted that Orsod Malik will be the Stuart Hall Foundation’s new Director. Orsod brings a deep understanding of Professor Stuart Hall’s work and its enduring relevance and importance to a younger generations of thinkers, artists and activists. A key member of the Foundation’s team, Orsod has developed exciting new programming strands and expanded our audience and impact significantly over the past three years.”

Gilane Tawadros, Chair, Stuart Hall Foundation

Previously contributing as the Stuart Hall Foundation’s Programme Curator, Orsod has created and produced a number of projects since joining in 2020, including the recent ‘Locating Legacies‘ podcast, the ‘Contextualising Climate Crisis‘ series and the ‘Imagined Futures‘ series, and a new upcoming podcast series called ‘Living Archives: Intergenerational Conversations Between Artists’.

Through programme curation, redevelopment of our website and social channels, and representation of the Foundation speaking at our events, Orsod has a demonstrably extensive understanding of our core values, bolstering our commitment to addressing issues of inequality through public education. Orsod will continue to curate and develop the Stuart Hall Foundation’s programme in this new role.

“I am absolutely thrilled to lead the Stuart Hall Foundation into this next phase of the organisation’s development as its new Director. It is a great honour to continue working with the brilliant SHF team and Board of Trustees to orient Stuart Hall’s legacy towards confronting the urgent questions of our time, drawing connections between life as it is lived and the world of ideas, and creating spaces to imagine and enact radical ways of seeing and being in the world. I look forward to building upon the Foundation’s stellar reputation and strengthening our ties with all of our constituents.”
