PHD SCHOLAR | MIDLANDS GRADUATE SCHOOL | 2025 – 2029
Carol is part of the Stuart Hall Foundation Scholar and Fellow network from October 2025. Graduated in Public Relations in Brazil, Carol has recently completed a Master’s degree in Intercultural Communication for Business and the Professions from the University of Warwick. Her dissertation titled “Internationalisation, Decoloniality, and Equality Diversity and Inclusion: A multiple-case study of the values driving the Internationalisation of Higher Education in the UK” explored the intersectionality of the mentioned areas by engaging with professionals from UK universities.
After 15 years working on different areas of Higher Education in Brazil and in the UK, in the last 6 years Carol specialised in the internationalisation of Higher Education (IoHE). Over the years, she managed UK partnerships in Denmark, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Dubai, India, and Peru.
For her PhD research, Carol utilises critical internationalisation studies (CIS) and decolonial theory to investigate the terrain for global North-South internationalisation partnerships. Her research also aims to identify and compare the social-cultural priorities and ethical considerations for universities in the UK and Brazil to engage in IoHE partnerships.
