I am currently in the dissertation year on the M7: ‘Perinatal, child, adolescent and family work: a psychoanalytic observational approach’, at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. I hope to gain a place on the clinical training to become a child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I have a specific interest in the earliest relationship between infants and their caregivers and supporting perinatal mental health. Concurrent to this is an interest in early years support in therapeutically informed community settings where there is a strong focus on sustainable support and parental empowerment.
I am interested in issues around accessing mental health services for communities and individuals that experience barriers to access through systemic discrimination as well as socioeconomic and class-based barriers. Particularly, in viewing these issues from the lens of intersectionality and exploring the complexity of discrimination and the lived experience. I am curious how thinking within, and across, multidisciplinary settings could support critical reflection and meaningful systemic change to existing services and the potential development of new services.
