We are delighted to announce that Elaine Mitchener has been selected as an artist-in-residence for the 48th Rauschenberg Residency in August 2020.

Mitchener is an experimental vocalist and movement artist whose work melds different vocal styles encompassing free-improvisation, contemporary new music, sound art, music theatre and dance. Her multidisciplinary work SWEET TOOTH was commissioned by the Stuart Hall Foundation and premiered at The Bluecoat Liverpool in November 2017, followed by a UK tour. She subsequently performed at the 2019 Second Annual Stuart Hall Public Conversation, with Neil Charles and Mark Sanders.

The Rauschenberg Residency is inspired by Rauschenberg’s early years at Black Mountain College where an artistic community brought out elements central to his art, collaboration, and exploration. The residency advances new work, extends practices into new mediums, and serves as a research and development lab for performance-based projects.
